Week 2: Continue once daily if well tolerated.
Ongoing Use: Increase frequency only when needed and tolerated, or as directed by your clinician.
If Dryness Occurs: Reduce use to every other day or temporarily discontinue if irritation persists.
For Body Acne: May be used on the chest and back. Rinse thoroughly after cleansing.
AM: Follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
Amare Clinical Tip: Benzoyl peroxide is particularly useful when inflammatory acne is the primary concern.
For patients experiencing both active acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, controlling breakouts while limiting irritation is essential. Excessive dryness, peeling, or inflammation may contribute to persistent discoloration, particularly in skin of color.
Although benzoyl peroxide can be combined with retinoids or other acne medications in an appropriately designed regimen, introducing several potentially irritating products simultaneously can reduce tolerability.
BP 3% Acne Treatment Wash is generally preferable to the buffing-bead version when physical exfoliation is unnecessary.

Unlike topical antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide does not promote bacterial antibiotic resistance and is commonly used in comprehensive acne treatment regimens.
