Vivant Derm-A-Gel®

Introductory Retinoid Serum for Acne-Prone Skin, Hyperpigmentation, Fine Lines & Uneven Texture

Introduce your skin to the benefits of vitamin A with Vivant Derm-A-Gel®, a lightweight, alcohol-free corrective retinoid serum designed to improve the appearance of post-acne marks, uneven pigmentation, rough texture, and early signs of aging.

Powered by Vivant's proprietary REt (RP)™ retinoid technology featuring retinyl propionate, this multifunctional treatment combines vitamin A with kojic acid, niacinamide, and lactic acid to promote surface skin renewal while supporting a brighter, smoother, and more even-looking complexion.

Developed as a Level 1 introductory retinoid, Derm-A-Gel is particularly relevant for individuals beginning a vitamin A regimen or seeking a nonprescription approach to addressing acne-related imperfections, dark spots, fine lines, and uneven skin texture.

Suitable for a range of skin tones, including melanin-rich complexions, this serum offers a gradual approach to corrective skincare when introduced appropriately and paired with consistent sun protection.

Benefits

  • Promotes Skin Renewal: Retinyl propionate, a vitamin A derivative, supports surface skin renewal and improves the appearance of rough, uneven texture.

  • Softens the Appearance of Fine Lines: Retinoid-based skin conditioning helps promote smoother-looking skin and improve early signs of photoaging.

  • Enhances Skin Radiance: A combination of vitamin A, brightening ingredients, and mild AHA exfoliation helps improve dullness.

Key Ingredients

REt (RP)™ Retinoid (Retinyl Propionate): Vivant's proprietary vitamin A technology designed to support skin renewal, improve uneven texture, and soften the appearance of fine lines. Retinyl propionate is a cosmetic retinoid ester and differs from prescription tretinoin.

Kojic Acid: A pigment-targeting ingredient that helps improve the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone by interfering with melanin production pathways.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): Helps support skin barrier function, improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation, and maintain a smoother, more balanced complexion.

Lactic Acid: An alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that promotes mild surface exfoliation while providing moisture-binding benefits.

Urea: A humectant and skin-conditioning ingredient that helps soften rough skin and maintain hydration.

Sodium PCA & Sodium Lactate: Components associated with the skin's natural moisturizing factor that help attract and retain moisture.

Glycine & Fructose: Skin-conditioning ingredients that complement the formula's hydrating components and help maintain suppleness.

How to Use

PM | After Cleansing and Toning

Shake well before use. Apply a thin, even layer to clean, dry skin on the face, neck, or chest, avoiding the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes. Allow the serum to absorb before applying moisturizer.

Recommended Introduction:

  • Weeks 1–2: Apply every other evening to allow the skin to acclimate.

  • Week 3 and Beyond: Increase to nightly use if well tolerated.

  • If Irritation Occurs: Reduce frequency or temporarily discontinue until skin comfort returns.

AM: Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily. For patients managing melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, tinted sunscreen containing iron oxides provides additional visible-light protection.

Amare Clinical Tip: Retinoids can be beneficial for patients experiencing acne, discoloration, and early signs of aging simultaneously. However, retinoid tolerance is particularly important in melanin-rich skin, where excessive irritation can worsen post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Start gradually, maintain adequate hydration, and avoid unnecessarily combining multiple exfoliating acids or retinoids. Consistency and tolerability are more important than visible peeling.

Important to Know

  • Contains retinyl propionate, a vitamin A derivative.

  • Temporary dryness, flaking, or irritation may occur during initial use.

  • Visible peeling is not required for a retinoid to be effective.

  • Avoid use during pregnancy or when planning pregnancy.

  • Consult your healthcare provider before use while breastfeeding.

  • Avoid applying to broken, severely irritated, or compromised skin.

  • Use caution when combining with prescription retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, or additional exfoliating acids.

  • Daily sun protection is essential.

  • Discontinue use if persistent burning, swelling, or significant irritation develops.

  • Results vary depending on skin condition, consistency of use, and individual tolerance.
